The Start

Good Morning Friends, Here is the start to, what I hope are, many blogs. I love to write, so this should be fun. Interesting as well, especially as I didn't even know what a blog was a year ago. Besides engaging you, my reader, I hope to keep my blogs as up-to-date and error free as possible. I want to make a good impression. So, are you impressed so far? I'll let you think on that for a bit - no need to answer right away.

I start with my own story and my fun, story-filled, and very imaginative childhood. My Dad read me all sorts of books, from my favorite picture books to the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. He made up his own stories at the beach house, while we watched to sun set in Sea Isle, NJ. My Grandfather Mitch grabbed his ukulele and joined in with imaginative songs he wrote for kids at summer camp. Between the two, my imagination blossomed. I created entire worlds to play in, from being a great explorer in the woods behind our house, to being a spy hiding in the attic, to turning my brother and me into elves. I think I spent half my childhood in my head!

I grew up, but only came out of my head a for brief periods, like to go to college and meet my husband. While dating my super-supportive hubby-to-be for a year, I told him my secret. I wanted to be a writer - shhhh. He said, "do it!" The stories, piled-up in my head, could no longer be contained. I wrote my first book in under three months - that was fourteen and a half years ago. The books and stories haven't stopped since. But, up until several years ago, all my writing has been for adults.

I have two daughters, both very energetic and happy, both love books and stories as much as I did growing up. For years, I've told them stories on the long drives to Grandma's and Granddaddy's houses, to and from the sitter's house, anywhere and everywhere, hours upon hours of stories. As they got older, they asked me to put some of these stories into books.

I hope to share as many of the stories living in my head, with you. Only one book to be published so far. But, this is the start.
